MBBS, BSC, CCFP-EM ERT SAR EMERGENCY AND TRAUMA SUPPORT SPECIALIST & ADVISOR Dr Nic is the Emergency and Trauma Support Specialist and Advisor for ERT SAR and lead Emergency Medical trainers and invigilators for ERTSAR in British Colombia. Dr Nic is on our WHO EMT (World Health Organisation - Emergency Medical Team) Compliance Committee. He has provide much support to the team over the years. Dr Nic first joined the team about 12 years ago in the United Kingdom and became a valued member of the ERT SAR team in Canada a few years after. |

Dr. Nicholas Sparrow received his medical training in London, England and qualified in 2001. He was actively involved in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care and was instrumental in setting up training and operational groups with the emergency services there like the Police and Ambulance Service.
He joined ERTSAR and with the SAR Chief, Gary Foo, started working on various projects together which would be mutually aligned in emergency response and trauma care.
Dr Nic moved to Canada in 2008 where he worked in the lower mainland as a family and emergency physician. He moved to Nelson with his family (wife Krista and now 6 kids) in 2013 and works full-time in the ER at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
In 2014, he started volunteering his free time responding to the highest priority 911 calls alongside the emergency services. To date he has responded to over 600 emergency calls in Province.
In 2016 he founded Kootenay Emergency Response Physicians Association (KERPA), a registered charity. Our goal is simple… saving lives and helping the most critically ill and injured patients in our community – and supporting the emergency services.
In 2018 Dr Nic hosted The Emergency Medical Summit which brought together amazing medical specialists from all over the world including Dr Mark Forrest's incredible ATACC Faculty. Dr Jen Frendo and SAR Chief Gary Foo also attended.
Dr Nic is the ATACC Medical Director for Canada and also the RDCK Fire Dept in The Central Kootenays, BC, Canada.
In 2021 KERPA received accreditation as the first Special Operations unit in the region, by The Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). (LINK)
