Well, although the summer has been a hot and challenging one, our members have been operationally busy. From wildfire deployments to training exercises in fire, medical, and technical rescue, our incredible team continues to respond and also build resilience and capacity across all hazards.
We have been proud to work with the Province, and also support First Nations partners, deploying in Wildfires, community emergencies, attending powwows, working with tribal councils such as IFNA (the Independent First Nations Alliance), and launching the new insignia for accreditation and recognition through the Indigenous Fire Service Directory program (IFSD).
Alongside these operations, we have invested in leadership development, new vehicles, new kit and equipment, improved storage systems, and upgraded digital tools, including a refreshed intranet and enhanced operational bespoke member app functionality, which is we call "The Bridge Command" a nod to running a team and a ship from the bridge. All to ensure our members and responders remain connected, capable, supported, recognised and ready.
All squads will be ramping up (not just the A, B, C and D units for the specialists from E, F, G, etc). Looking ahead, we are preparing for another strong quarter with advanced training in technical rescue, fire operations, medical response, and all-hazard coordination. We are also planning joint exercises with the Canadian Armed Forces and Search and Rescue Technicians (SAR TECHS), as well as high-profile training opportunities in prestigious locations such as the CN Tower, Flight and aviation simulation facilities, cross training with the emergency services and more member training. Recruiting for new members will open in Q4, with awards and recognition to celebrate the dedication of our volunteers who give so much.
We couldn’t do this without our incredible leaders, supporters, and every single one of our members. Thank you all!
Together, we are building strength, resilience, and preparedness across all sectors for whatever challenges lie ahead.
